Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are devastated following their recent 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid which saw them crash out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage.
Arsene Wenger could not end his Arsenal tenure with a European trophy with Diego Costa’s first-half goal enough to secure a 2-1 aggregate victory for the Spanish side. The Europa League was Arsenal’s best chance of qualifying for the Champions League with the Gunners looking likely to miss out on the top four.
Their dreadful form on the road has cost them this season and they will likely have to settle for another Europa League place next campaign. The Gunners are in serious need of investment in the summer transfer window if they are to challenge for the title again.
According to reports in the Sun, Arsenal are interested in bringing Lyon captain, Nabil Fekir, to the Emirates. The 24-year-old has been one of the top performers in Ligue 1 during recent years and is rated at £45m by Transfermarkt. Lyon missed out on the title yet again – a massive 19 points behind PSG so perhaps the Frenchman could seek pastures new.
Fekir’s arrival would soften the blow of Wenger’s departure and give the new boss a key attacking option. The French international has netted 17 goals and notched six assists in just 27 appearances in the league. Able to play on the wing or through the centre, Fekir would no doubt improve the performances of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and former team-mate Alexandre Lacazette.
Whatever the price, Arsenal must sign Fekir.
Arsenal fans, would Nabil Fekir be a good signing for the Gunners? Let us know!
