The Daily Star claim that the proposed transfer of Paris Saint-Germain’s Javier Pastore could well spark a merry-go-round with Juan Mata leaving Chelsea.
Paris Saint-Germain are considering allowing Pastore to leave for one of the clubs who are keen on landing him – with both Arsenal and Liverpool interested.
The Argentine forward was once one of the crown jewels in the PSG ranks but after a summer of big name arrivals, he has fallen further down the pecking order for Laurent Blanc’s men and is willing to depart for happier shores.
Blanc is willing to let the player leave, but would not allow this to happen unless a suitable replacement is found. That replacement comes in the shape of Juan Mata, who is on the fringes of the Chelsea side himself.
Mata has failed to oust the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar in the Chelsea starting line up and try as he might, he is yet to receive the full backing of Jose Mourinho.
Despite what the Chelsea manager claims, he will be looking to bring in new players in the January transfer window and getting a good fee for Mata could well finance a much needed purchase.
As one of our punters quips, after the Capital One Cup loss to Sunderland, a defender, a box-to-box midfielder and also a forward are needed desperately at Stamford Bridge. Not another tricky number ten to sit on the bench!
Will Juan Mata move to France in one of the highest profile transfer this winter? Let us know your thoughts below.
