There is news breaking in Football Transfer Tavern as The Telegraph reports that Monaco are ready to make a huge offer to John Terry as they step up their recruitment drive after their promotion from Ligue 2.
Billionaire Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev is able to offer Terry the same wages he receives in London but on tax-free basis and the French club are convinced that an offer of around £7 million will persuade Chelsea to part with their 32-year-old captain.
Terry is, of course, eager to remain at Stamford Bridge where he has spent his entire football career but he realises that age is against him and may be interested in a massive pay day as he reaches the twilight of his time with Chelsea.
It will now be down to new Blues boss Jose Mourinho to decide whether or not he wants to keep Terry at the club with only 12 months of his contract remaining with question marks over his future as a key player at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is reportedly keen to keep the established core of his squad and he has a huge admiration for his captain which could see him stay at the Bridge for at least the next season.
Should Chelsea cash in on their legendary captain? Will he really want to move to France? Rate this rumour below.
