Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are starting to feel more positive with life at the Emirates Stadium after the club were linked with a whole host of summer signings.
However today’s The Express reports that the Gunners could now face a transfer battle with Monaco to sign Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia after the Ligue 1 side launched a £13 million bid to land the French international.
Arsene Wenger was understood to be readying a bid for Kondogbia as he looks to step up his transfer activity following a dismal 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa in the season opener.
But French reports now indicate that Monaco have started negotiations to fetch the former Lens man back to France after submitting a £13 million offer for the 20-year-old.
Kongogbia only made the switch to Spain last summer but he has impressed in La Liga in his 31 appearances earning his debut cap for France in the recent friendly draw against Belgium and that has brought about interest from across Europe.
Sevilla maintain that Kondogbia will not leave for less than his set buy out clause of £17 million but with interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid they may struggle to hang on the 6 ft 3 in defensive midfielder.
Italian reports also suggest that Serie A side Juventus are tracking the classy middle man and that could ironically turn into a positive for Arsenal with the Old Lady more likely to sell another Gunners midfield target Paul Pogba if they land the French youngster.
