Manchester United supporters in the The Football Transfer Tavern are still reflecting on today’s match against Newcastle United.
Following the in-depth analysis of the performance, their attention has now turned to the latest transfer rumours linking one of their longest serving players with a summer departure.
The news comes from The Mirror who report that Monaco are stepping up their pursuit for United defender Patrice Evra in the summer.
Evra, 32, looks to be coming to the end of his highly successful spell at Old Trafford and his current contract expires at the end of the season which has led to suggestions he could leave Manchester for his native France.
David Moyes has been seeking a replacement with Everton’s Leighton Baines high on the agenda and the former Toffees boss is likely to move again for the England international when the transfer window opens next month.
Doubts remain over current back-up left back Alexander Buttner, who has done little to impress since his arrival and the club and that means Evra is unlikely to be allowed to leave until a first choice replacement has been found.
However Monaco are very keen to re-sign Evra, who they sold to United in 2006, and has the financial capacity to offer the left back one final pay day as he reaches the twilight of his career.
Is it time for United to cut their losses with Evra? Let us know your thoughts below.]
