Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have received positive news after Metro revealed that Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani is asking the club to lower their £50 million price tag in order to force a move to the Emirates Stadium.
PSG have slapped down a hefty price tag on their wantaway striker after paying a similar price to sign him from Napoli back in 2013.
However, the Uruguayan international is begging for the Parisian club to lower that valuation as he looks for an exit away from Parc Des Princes.
Having played in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shadow, not to mention having to be accommodated out wide which is simply not his best position, these factors are basically why the 27-year-old wants to leave and revert to his favoured number 9 berth elsewhere.
But with Ibrahimovic’s injury, Cavani has been in good form and has scored 12 times in 22 appearances so far which has also alerted Arsenal with many Gunners fans calling for an upgrade on Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
Although with his good goal scoring record this season, the reigning Ligue 1 champions may want to keep hold of him themselves despite the player’s wishes.
Arsenal fans. Should the club do everything in their power to land a striker like Cavani or do multi-million fees need to be spent on defensive-minded signings first? Let us know your thoughts below.
