Newcastle United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are excited by the latest reports from the Newcastle Chronicle.
The reports suggest the club are close to completing the £6 million signing of Monaco’s French forward Emmanuel Riviere.
The forward jetted into Tyneside last night to complete his move to St. James’ Park.
Sources in France suggest Monaco have sanctioned the move and he is set to become Alan Pardew’s sixth signing of what is proving to be a busy summer.
The striker said earlier this season: “England is my dream since I was a kid.”
The Toon have recently confirmed the signing of Feyenoord right back Daryl Janmaat, who is set to join the club as a replacement for Arsenal-bound Mathieu Debuchy.
Pardew is said to want to sign another forward to partner Riviere up top, despite already adding the attacking talents of Remy Cabella and Ayoze Perez to his squad this summer.
The pursuit of Riviere and the capture of Janmaat has eased the tension amongst Toon fans somewhat, who have been unhappy with the club’s lack of spending in the past two transfer windows.
