Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have a look of wry amusement on their faces after the latest claim from the Daily Mail.
Well that is until Manchester United fans reach the bar that is.
The publication have claimed that Edinson Cavani is set to reject a move to the club because of their failure to secure Champions League football.
That of course means that unless another offer comes in for the Uruguayan forward – and we think that both Chelsea and Real Madrid will be keeping a close eye on things – he will remain at the Parc Des Prince next season.
Cavani has been unhappy in Paris due to being forced out on the wing and is not pleased at having to play second fiddle either.
One of our punters mentioned that we felt it would only be a matter of time before a top player rejected the chance of a move to Old Trafford for this reason, new man at the helm or not.
Manchester United fans. Do you think that not having Champions League football next season will hinder the club this summer or is Cavani going to be the exception to the rule when the cheque book comes out? Let us know your thoughts below.
