Tottenham have turned their attention to young Barcelona duo Martin Montoya and Marc Bartra as the pair continue to stall in signing a new contract with the Catalan club.
Spurs are eager to bolster their defence having missed out on signing Gary Cahill during the summer and have once again seen their defence hampered with injury. The latest being inspirational leader Ledley king’s whose season is once again impeded by injury. With King, Gallas, Dawson and Corluka out injured, it leaves Tottenham with just Bassong and Kaboul as the only recognisable centre-halves.
Montoya (20) and Bartra (20) have struggled to breakthrough at the Nou Camp despite being two of La Masia’s hottest prospects. It is reported by talkSPORT that Spurs have offered a lucrative deal for the pair, better than their current one on offer. Tottenham can also offer them first team football with the current injury crisis, something that Barcelona cannot offer with the talent they already have on show.
The two could push for a move to Tottenham in January, as they would like to progress in their development on a more competitive scale and Tottenham can offer just that. Barcelona may be interested to sell in January if they cannot agree on a new deal, as the Catalan club would want to avoid the possibility of losing the pair on a free come the end of the year.
It’s wouldn’t be the first time Tottenham have lured players from the Nou Camp, they have seen Giovani Dos Santos and Cristian Ceballos join their ranks.
Meanwhile Tottenham target Carlos Casemiro has signed a bumper five year-deal with Sao Paulo. The Brazilian 19-year-old starlet nicknamed the ‘beast’ is regarded as a bright prospect , and Spurs were keen on bringing the talented midfielder to the Lane. For now it would look unlikely for a possible move having signed a new deal, but he is definitely one for the future that Tottenham will be keeping tabs on.
