There are some interesting reports in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
talkSPORT report that Liverpool are among the host of suitors who are tracking Saint-Etienne youngster Kurt Zouma.
The news comes as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his Reds side during the January transfer window.
However the publication suggests that the Anfield outfit will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City plus top European sides including Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco in their pursuit for the highly-rated 18-year-old.
Zouma, who is also a reported target for Inter Milan, seems likely to depart France in the New Year, and the Serie A side, now backed by Indonesian billionaire Erick Thohir, are considering rivalling Liverpool when the transfer window opens.
Punters in the tavern want to know more information about the powerful youngster and the landlord explains that Zouma is a regular French Under-21 international who national coach Didier Deschamps recently stated he could see as a potential future captain of his country.
The centre back has already made nearly 50 appearances for the Ligue 1 club since making his debut back in August 2011 and he is already considered as one of the most promising talents in Europe after helping to deliver the Under-20 World Cup for France earlier this year.
He remains under contract until 2017, but Saint Etienne are expected to have their resolve tested as his suitors line up firm bids in January.
Is this simply media hype considering Liverpool already boast lots of options at centre back? Let us know your thoughts below.
