Liverpool ace completes Swansea City switch

shelvey.jpgLiverpool fans are looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as BBC Sport confirm Jonjo Shelvey has completed a £5 million move to Swansea City and that the Reds are also not finished in regards to bringing in more fresh faces to Merseyside this summer.

The publication confirms the former Charlton Athletic midfielder’s move to Swansea City – ironically Brendan Rodgers’ old club – for the England Under-21 international who will now receive increased first team playing chances.

Rodgers is keen to build a team that can get the club back into the Champions League qualification positions and didn’t feel that Shelvey was a player that would be able to help him achieve that aim.

When asked about the prospect of netting new players, Northern Irishman Rodgers noted to Metro that: “It’s a big thing to the club because we looked at last summer and there were lots of things that were difficult for us.

“That meant that the opening period of the season was difficult,” added the manager.

“From that we’ve got all our people involved, our recruitment team in – and they got to work as soon as they came in.

“We brought great signings in in January and that’s really helped us. Obviously the plan was to get our signings in as soon as we possibly could – and we still hope to make a few more.”

Liverpool fans. Are you sad to see the club having given up on Shelvey or is he not good enough? Let us know your thoughts below.
