There are some smirks around the Football Transfer Tavern this morning as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that Brendan Rodgers has laid down the law to his wantaway forward Luis Suarez.
Suarez has been angling for a move away from the club this summer and has blamed the media in no small part for hounding him and his family.
Despite still claiming to love Liverpool as a city and their fans, it has become abundantly clear the forward feels his future lies elsewhere.
There has of course been no shortage of potential takers with Juventus and Real Madrid leading the line – and with Los Blancos manager elect Carlo Ancelotti being a self confessed fan of the player, this makes a move look increasingly likely. Northern Irishman Rodgers however has noted when speaking to talkSPORT that: “The club is in complete control of the situation and for me, there is no change.
“I’m quite relaxed about it. We are in a situation where we’ve got a player who we don’t want to lose.
“We’re trying to build something here and he’s a very important part of that and because of the type of player he is he will always give his best.
“I always work closely with players and listen to their point of view but the biggest word is with the club.”
