In shock news here at the Football Transfer Tavern it has been claimed by the Daily Mirror that Reds outcast Andy Carroll may well be offered a way back at Liverpool.
In a scenario no one would have thought possible, it seems that Brendan Rodgers is willing to give Carroll another chance at the club despite previously noting he is not the mould of forward he would like. Carroll of course is a big and powerful man but given Rodgers’ style of play that focuses primarily on sharp passing, the Northern Irishman rejected the idea of Carroll from the offset.
After being shipped out on loan or indeed exile depending on how you look at it to West Ham United, the forward did seem to be getting back to his best, yet a host of injuries and loss of subsequent form has meant that Liverpool are fully aware they will not recoup even half of their initial £35 million outlay on the England international.
Rodgers is prepared to welcome the player back under the condition that he keeps his head down and causes no trouble on or off the field and fights for his place at the club. Should Carroll impress and knuckle down at training, his chances will come and it seems his career at Anfield is not over yet.
Does Carroll still have a future at Liverpool? Let us know your thoughts below.
