Liverpool ace set to move abroad after Premier League snub

SkrtelLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting ready to wave goodbye to one of their fan favourites, who’s set to leave England.

The Northern Echo states veteran Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is set to move to Besiktas, after Premier League newbies Middlesbrough turned down the chance to sign the Slovakian defender.

Skrtel has been deemed to be surplus to requirements at Anfield and his entourage have been sounding out potential destinations, including Middlesbrough, but officials at the Riverside are not seeing his signing to be a priority.

The 31-year-old is not top of Middlesbrough’s transfer wish-list as they will stick with Ben Gibson and Daniel Ayala for their return to the top-flight, despite the duo being inexperienced at this level.

Turkish outfit Besiktas are prepared to pay around €8m for Skrtel to move to the eastern European nation but our landlord has urged Middlesbrough to make a move, as he feels he’d provide a big boost to the Teesside outfit.

Would Middlesbrough be wrong to reject Skrtel? Let us know in the comments below!
