Liverpool ace slams former manager and explains exit

Lazar Markovic Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have had their attention caught by an intriguing statement from a current loanee, which has seen their pot pies turn cold in the process.

Lazar Markovic is quoted by Turkish outlet Fanatik as stating former manager Brendan Rodgers changed and the breakdown with his boss was a contributing factor in his departure. The quotes are carried in The Liverpool Echoreading:

“I had no problem with Brendan Rodgers and we had a bond until, for some reason that remains a mystery to me, he changed,”

“He stopped playing me and then at the start of the season he didn’t even include me in the squad, and nobody explained to me what was going on or what his plans were, so I decided to leave.”

Markovic is midway through a loan spell in Istanbul with Fenerbahce, where he is impressing, and will return to Liverpool this summer as he aims to make an impression under new boss Jurgen Klopp.

Our landlord is concerned though, as he sees no reason why Rodgers’ behaviour would alter so dramatically and he suggests that Markovic could be leaving out key details from this story.

Liverpool fans, will Klopp take to Markovic? Let us know in the comments below!
