There has been much speculation among Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern in the last few weeks that the club would need a new goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign with long-serving Pepe Reina expected to leave this summer.
The keeper had been expected to make the switch back to Spain after eight glorious years with the Reds with Barcelona eyeing up Reina as a option to replace Victor Valdes at the Camp Nou.
However reports this morning indicated that the Spainish keeper now wants to remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future with reports of a possible link up with former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez at Napoli also dismissed.
The 28-year-olds agent told the Express: “Reina has been clear in recent days his thoughts, his future is still at Liverpool.
“At the moment there are no chances for Napoli and Barcelona.
“Pepe considers Benitez a great coach but his future will still be at Anfield.”
Brendan Rodgers had been linked with summer moves for Stoke City’s Bosnian stopper Asmir Begovic and Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet as he looked to find a suitable replacement for Reina.
