Sunderland could only secure a draw against Oxford United yesterday as Max Power was given his marching orders in the first half.
The Black Cats find themselves in a promising position to secure promotion straight back to the Championship, but there’re still plenty of improvements to be had. And, it looks as if they’ll be waving goodbye to one of their youth players, as according to Sun Sport, Liverpool have agreed a fee for 15-year-old Luca Stephenson.
Liverpool have agreed a £500,000 deal to bring in Sunderland teen Luca Stephenson.
Interestingly, the exciting youngster was happy to stay in the North East but the deal is so attractive he opted to join the Kop, and will go right into the Reds’ youth ranks.
Indeed, the midfielder was one of the brightest prospects at Sunderland and would have gone on to follow in the footsteps of Josh Maja and Joel Asoro.
The Black Cats won’t be too fussed about losing the youngster as he hasn’t been able to feature in the first team thus far, but he could have played a big part in their future.
Nevertheless, it looks as if Liverpool are set to secure the services of the midfielder in the near future having agreed a £500,000 fee, so there’s nothing the League One side can do.
