Liverpool central defender Martin Skrtel is set to join Turkish outfit Fenerbahce in a deal worth £5.5 million, according to the Daily Mail.
The news has divided opinion among the group of Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern with some feeling disappointed that he will leave, whilst others happy that the club is selling the Slovakian international.
The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield and Skrtel is set to make way as boss Jurgen Klopp looks to put his own stamp on his squad for next season.
The article, found by our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern, states that the fee has been agreed between the two clubs and a deal could be signed when Skrtel returns from Euro 2016.
One Liverpool fan is sat in the Tavern waiting for England’s massive game against Wales this afternoon and he thinks that the club are right to ship out the central defender, although he does concede that the Slovak has been a great servant to the club over the last eight years.
Liverpool fans, would you be happy to see Skrtel leave? Should the club be opting to keep him instead?
