Liverpool and Arsenal target confirms pursuit of English sides for his signature

Lucas DigneThere was a lot of discussion concerning Lucas Digne in the Transfer Tavern pub garden over the summer, with the French international on the way out of Paris Saint-Germain.

Digne eventually left the French side to join Italian giants Roma but whispers around the cocktail bar suggested Liverpool and Arsenal were also eying the defender.

Whilst those moves never materialised, Digne has now lifted the lid on his transfer shenanigans and told L’Equipe that English sides did make an approach- but no specific names were mentioned.

Per the reports, which we’re thankful TalkSport translated as our French GSCE isn’t much use, Digne said:

“[Coach Rudi] Garcia had a big impact on my decision to come here, but he wasn’t the only reason, since Roma have been interested in me for years.”

“I’d received offers from England too, but I realised that Roma was the club I wanted the most. I’m here on loan, so I can’t say how long I’ll be here, but I’ll give everything for this shirt.”

With Liverpool and Arsenal’s defences both looking shaky so far this term, Digne could be considered one that got away from the Premier League outfits- though they could have another bite of the cherry at the end of the season when Digne’s loan with Roma comes to a close.

Will Arsenal & Liverpool regret not pushing harder for Lucas Digne? Let us know in the comments!
