Arsenal performer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks set to depart the Emirates Stadium this summer and according to The Mirror a bidding war is set to commence.
The England international is in the final year of his contract with the Gunners and with Chelsea and Liverpool both holding an interest in his services, the bidding looks set to start in the region of £35 million.
Arsenal had reportedly made an offer of £180,000 per-week to the 24-year-old but it has been turned down and he now wants to leave the North London-based club.
Liverpool and Chelsea are two clubs who seem desperate to add to their squads before the transfer deadline and both destinations would hand Oxlade-Chamberlain the chance to play in the Champions League.
One Arsenal fan is sat chilling in the Tavern’s beer garden and he thinks the fact that players are so openly wanting to leave the Emirates is a worrying trend for the club.
Doubts have been cast over the futures of influential performers Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez during the summer and with no Champions League football on the agenda this season boss Arsene Wenger will be glad when the transfer window slams shut.
The Landlord’s Verdict
The jury has remained out on the ability of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for some years now but the worrying aspect of any deal involving him leaving the club is that he could join a divisional rival.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool will be vying with Arsenal for a top four finish come the end of the campaign and it is vitally important that they don’t make a habit of selling to their direct rivals.
