Manchester City and Liverpool have gotten off to different starts this season to say the least, with the Reds struggling at times while City look clear and away the best in the league thus far.
Both clubs are rich in history, and while City will be desperate to reclaim their Premier League crown, Liverpool yearn to capture that first Premier League title and bring the glory days back to Anfield.
There’s a long way to go though this year, and our landlord here at the Tavern thinks a tight battle could ensure on the pitch, as well as off the pitch with the emergence of some brilliant young talent in the English game over the last six months.
One such player who he thinks both Liverpool and City need to be looking to sign is impressive Sheffield United youngster David Brooks, who has shot to prominence this season.
Already called up as a full Welsh international, Brooks has seen his stock rise following a string of excellent performances in a Blades shirt, in particular a stunning display against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday, where he ran the show and picked up the man of the match award.
Brooks has bags of talent, can beat a man with ease, and scored his first goal as a pro just last week at Elland Road. There’s little doubt he can develop into a top Premier League player at a top club, and if both clubs are willing to pay the money in January, they will have quite the player on their hands.
City and Reds fans, what do you make of Brooks? Decent signing? Let us know!
