At the Football Transfer Tavern there is nothing we like more than the news of a war between two clubs especially when it is Liverpool and Manchester United and that is just what the Daily Express is claiming today.
Both clubs have a long and esteemed history in the English game and have gone toe to toe on more than one occasion. Now it is over wonder kid Patrick Roberts who is currently on the books at Fulham.
The youngster is only 16 years of age yet has impressed enough when scouts have come calling that two of the best clubs in the land are now vying to sign the boy on a professional contract. After impressing yet again in the England Under 17 International, both United and Liverpool are willing to battle it out to convince the 16 year old to put pen to paper for them.
Of course a move to either club would mean uprooting to the North of England but for such an ambitious player this is a small price to pay and despite being ‘valued highly’ by Fulham should an offer that is too good for the player to turn down come in a move could well be on the cards.
Fulham for their part rate the player a great deal and are willing to snub offers in excess of £1 million for the player and at a tender 16 years of age that is a huge amount of faith to place in someone.
