It seems like strikers are the order of the day here in the Football Transfer Tavern and the claim made by talkSPORT only further enforces our opinion on this. They claim that Liverpool and Manchester United are set to face a fight to land their latest transfer target.
The Premier League duo are set to fight it out with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund for FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez. The Colombian international striker has been in scintilating form for his club this season and now after netting a massive 23 goals in 23 games, has found himself being tracked by the majority of the top clubs around Europe. Add to this the three he has netted in the Champions League and you have a player who is certainly showing potential in just about every competition.
Dortmund are of course establishing themselves as a powerhouse in the German top flight and after a run in the Champions League that led them to be dubbed the ‘dark horses’ of the competition by Jose Mourinho, the club are confident they have what it takes to land the forward. The Signal Iduna Park-based side face losing forward Robert Lewandowski in the summer and have earmarked Martinez as the perfect replacement for the Pole.
