Liverpool and Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are disappointed as they are set to miss out on the new Gianluigi Buffon after talkSPORT revealed Mattia Perin confirmed he will stay at Genoa next season.
The 22-year-old keeper has turned into one of the most exciting prospects in Serie A and he looks to remain loyal to Genoa despite the heavy interest.
Liverpool are keen to find a long term replacement for their goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, whilst Manchester United would seemingly like back-up to David De Gea.
Despite the Belgian’s recent form, there are still question marks over his position in the squad after having a dire start to the season.
Whilst Manchester United are looking to bring an upcoming goalkeeper to Old Trafford because if they don’t lose David De Gea this summer, he will still be linked with a move to Real Madrid for many seasons to come.
The youngster, who has been likened to the Italian legend, Buffon, is happy to stay in Serie A.
“I am happy at Genoa and want to stay,” Perin said.
“I have a contract until 2017 and that’s not a huge amount, but not a small amount either.
“The President knows what I want. I will be at Genoa next season, 100%. You can underline it, I will be playing for Genoa next year.
“I would like that the team not be dismantled every six months, as that way we could work better.”
