Sections of Premier League supporters in the Transfer Tavern this afternoon have been discussing an interesting piece of gossip from the continent, which state a major European rival has failed with a swoop for a top-target.
TalkSport, citing reports from French outlet RMC Sport, state Borussia Dortmund have seen a £12m bid rejected for Rennes starlet Ousmane Dembele, who’s set Ligue 1 alight this season with his tremendous emergence.
The performances of the 18-year-old, who has scored 12 goals this season, have alerted a wealth of top sides to his services but Rennes are holding out for a figure of at least £20m.
With Dortmund’s initial offer being rejected, it’s put Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur on alert for the teenager’s signature but they will have to move quickly, as it’s likely Thomas Tuchel will increase his offer for one of the most exciting talents in French football.
Spurs could offer Dembele Champions League football, as could Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool will be able to offer the same if they overcome Sevilla in the Europa League final later this month.
Which club should Dembele join this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
