Liverpool and West Ham fans have a bit of a rivalry going on in the Transfer Tavern at the moment, with the two famous clubs fighting each other for a spot in next season’s European competition.
The two sides are linked throughout history though, which includes the dramatic 2006 FA Cup final, and one player who’s played for both clubs could be on his way back to the Premier League this summer.
Spanish outlet El Confidencial state the agent of Barcelona defensive ace Javier Mascherano is earmarking a potential return to English football, amid what has been a dramatic developing story in Catalonia.
32-year-old Mascherano, who spent four years in England between 2006 and 2010, was recently sentenced to a year in jail amid a tax scandal– and Mascherano’s exit reportedly stems from Barcelona’s reluctance to back him in his trial.
The Argentine international was a hero for fans in east London and Merseyside, so a return may appeal to them, but there’s also likely to be plenty of interest in the experienced midfielder-turned-defender.
Liverpool fans, would you take Mascherano back at Anfield? Let us know in the comments below!
