Liverpool battling Man United for £31m World Cup winner

GotzeLiverpool and Manchester United fans have swarmed the Transfer Tavern this evening for the highly anticipated Europa League clash between the great rivals- but it seems there’s another battle set for off the field!

The Daily Star states that the two Premier League rivals are set to go toe-toe-toe for the signature of Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze, with the German World Cup final scoring ace potentially on the move this summer if he doesn’t fit into the plans of new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Since his days at Borussia Dortmund where he was regarded as one of the best prospects in the world, managed by a certain Jurgen Klopp, Gotze’s career has curtailed a bit and he hasn’t had the opportunities he would have liked at Bayern Munich.

Whilst Pep Guardiola’s departure this summer may hand Gotze a chance with a new manager, competition for places is still as shrewd as ever- and England’s top guns are ready to make a massive swoop.

Klopp is keen to reunite with the player he brought to the forefront of German football but Manchester United will rival the Reds for the player’s signature, with his price-tag likely to be around £31m.

Our landlord feels Liverpool would be the best place for him due to his experiences with Klopp but he feels a transfer is only likely if Philippe Coutinho leaves.

Liverpool fans, is Gotze the ideal midfield recruit? Let us know in the comments below!
