The Times journalist, who has proven to be a reliable source of news, has revealed that the talks are at an early stage but the club are keen to reward his development.
The 21-year-old has been one of the club’s best players this season and has excelled in the centre of defence alongside Virgil van Dijk and, despite still having a number of years left on his current deal, it appears Jurgen Klopp is keen to reward him further.
The news of discussions being opened about a new contract for Gomez will be well received by Liverpool fans, who will be delighted with the update.
The defender has been one of Liverpool’s best players in a position where men have struggled to perform for the Anfield outfit in recent seasons gone by.
Still only 21-years-old, Gomez has a number of exciting years ahead of him and Liverpool will be keen to see his development continue in the same way as it is currently.
