Liverpool fans have been dancing on the tables and mocking their Chelsea counterparts in the Transfer Tavern today, after it emerged that the Reds have beaten the Blues to the signing of a huge midfielder.
Both Premier League sides are extremely interested in Porto’s excelling 18-year-old Ruben Neves but reports on the continent indicate the Anfield outfit are confident they’ve beaten Jose Mourinho’s side to his signature.
Furthermore, it’s claimed both Real Madrid and Barcelona offered more money for Neves’ signature but the teenager opted for Liverpool; where he will join new boss Jurgen Klopp, who took charge of his first Premier League match yesterday.
Neves was stated last week to have been one of Klopp’s first targets for his regime at Liverpool, which began with a 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, and the Portuguese international would provide a major boost to his squad.
Losing out in the Neves race would be a major blow for Chelsea, who have endured a difficult start to the season under Jose Mourinho.
