Liverpool fans have seen a major blow handed to them today in the Transfer Tavern, with a move for a target falling apart directly due to a Premier League rival.
Goal state Borussia Monchengladbach will thwart Liverpool’s interest in youngster Mahmoud Dahoud, as the Bundesliga side do not want to lose two key players in the same window- having already sold Granit Xhaka to Arsenal.
The 20-year-old is seen as a key-target for Jurgen Klopp’s new-look Anfield outlet but the stance of Monchengladbach should not effect Liverpool’s interest, as they’re happy to wait another 12 months with Dahoud a key figure in their long-term plans.
Syrian-born German Dahoud has risen to prominence in the last two-years for the Bundesliga outfit, making 33 appearances in the league and scoring five goals, whilst he has also been capped on two occasions for the Germany U21 side.
Our landlord feels the best course of action for Liverpool would be to sign Dahoud and then loan him back to Gladbach, although he understands that may not be possible.
