Liverpool fans are handed a boost in the Football Transfer Tavern after talkSPORT revealed that the agent of Porto’s Jackson Martinez has confirmed AC Milan have been priced out of a deal to sign the Colombian forward.
Martinez’s name has been frequently mentioned in the build up to the January transfer window and it is to no surprise as he has banged in 14 goals in 18 games for the Portuguese giants so far this term.
It is rare that a goalscorer of his ability is reportedly available in January and Liverpool will be desperate to snap him up after failing to replace the goals scored by Luis Suarez last season.
Therefore, the news that Milan are out of the race gives Reds fans more hope of signing the Colombian after his agent Peppino Tirri revealed they don’t have the funds to sign him.
“I think it’s very difficult [for AC Milan]. Porto want the release clause to be paid (£28m) and they don’t intend to budge,” added Tirri.
“I can confirm that Liverpool want the player.”
