Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have raised eyebrows after they hear the latest gossip coming from the Guardian, who seem to think doubts have been cast over Daniel Sturridge and his ability to lead the line.
After missing most of the campaign this term, Brendan Rodgers noted that he needs a forward who can play ‘week in, week out’ and at the minute, that does not look like being Sturridge.
Rodgers claimed: ‘It’s simple, we need more of a scoring threat. We missed it immensely this year and obviously that has affected results.
‘I think what the players have done to arrive where we have is credit to them without that. So in the summer we have to try and find goals again. ‘
As one of our punters notes, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have been bigger disappointments this season for the club than Sturridge, and we still hold out a fair bit of hope that the England international will stay fit next term, and finally show the fans the player they saw when the SAS were in full force.
