It’s been a difficult few years for Liverpool fans, who have gone from potential Premier League title winners to battling in mid-table after just a few years. For the fans in the Transfer Tavern, it’s understandably not good enough.
Fortunately, there’s a sense of optimism surrounding Jurgen Klopp’s tenure and the German boss already has deals in place for the summer, for Marko Grujic and Joel Matip, but it’s apparent the former Borussia Dortmund boss has not finished.
The Daily Mirror states Klopp is confident of reuniting with Bayern Munich ace Mario Gotze, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, and is equally optimistic about his chances of snatching German international Jonas Hector from Cologne.
23-year-old Gotze has found things difficult since leaving Dortmund as a promising young player, as the midfielder has struggled to earn himself regular first-team opportunities. Whilst that could change under Carlo Ancelotti’s reign, Gotze is likely to leave.
Liverpool have also emerged in the race to sign Hector, who’s looked promising after establishing himself as first-choice left-back for his country ahead of the European Championships, and the player will be allowed to leave this summer for around £12m.
With this duo, and the possibility of more exciting deals on the horizon, Liverpool should be more competitive next season- as long as they fix their striking problems!
