Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a bit worse for wear this morning, as they drank long into Sunday evening in an attempt to forget about a crushing defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United.
Whilst flicking through the Monday papers, they were pleased to find a story related to both sides that didn’t include details of Wayne Rooney’s dramatic winner- with reports instead stating Jurgen Klopp wants to bring an ousted United man back to English football.
Fichajes state that the German boss has instructed his board to sign Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen, with the Mexican in deadly form this season having scored 19 goals in all competitions- more than Liverpool’s entire strike-force combined.
He left United in the summer having failed to win over Louis Van Gaal, though he’s had the last laugh with his performances whilst the Red Devils struggle to find goals of their own. Should Hernandez end up at Liverpool, the circle could be complete.
Hernandez was adored by the Old Trafford faithful during his time at the club but could never quite guarantee himself regular first-team football, instead earning himself a reputation as a super-sub.
Our landlord believes he’s proven his worth now though and Liverpool should definitely listen to their manager’s demands.
Liverpool fans, would you welcome Hernandez at your club? Let us know in the comments below!
