Metro have Liverpool fans looking mighty confused here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Brendan Rodgers has once again been criticising Mario Balotelli.
The forward managed to score the only goal of the game in the Reds’ vital Europa League tie against Besiktas but that did not seem to matter much according to the Liverpool boss, who wants Balotelli to contribute to the team and not worry about himself so much.
The Liverpool boss did acknowledge that Balotelli scored the controversial penalty, but made it very clear he expects far more from his players, noting: ‘He needs to improve on that facet of his game to play in his position, rather than standing on the side of the football field.’
Now we think that while Balotelli has a long way too go, he has certainly improved from the disinterested player we saw a couple of months ago – and it would not hurt Rodgers to remember this at times especially given how volatile Balotelli can be with his emotions on and off the field.
Liverpool fans. Does Rodgers simply want Balotelli out the club? Do you think he was impressive on Thursday night? Let us know your thoughts below.
