That is because according to the Daily Express, the Reds are interested in signing former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli who could receive a second chance at making it in England.
The fiery Italian currently plays in his home country for giants AC Milan but it is thought that the Rossoneri are willing to let his leave the San Siro for around £14 million this summer.
North London outfit Arsenal were believed to be in pole position for the striker but interest from Arsene Wenger has somewhat diminished in recent weeks.
But Liverpool manager Brendan Rodger’s comments confirm that the 6 ft 3 in powerhouse is definitely a player he likes.
“Balotelli has all the qualities [I like],” Rodgers said.
“He’s 6’3”, he’s quick, his touch is terrific, he can score goals and he’s still so young.
“I saw that in this time at Inter as a young player and obviously going to Manchester City when we had a real close eye on him there.
“He’s a big talent.”
