Liverpool brass want £72m-rated international to still be at Anfield next season – report

For the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, nobody in their squad is more important than Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian international has taken the Premier League by storm, with his goals, assists, and general fine form marking him out as one of the Premier League’s best players.

However, with fine form always comes speculation about third-party interest, and so reports from the Sun on Tuesday suggesting that the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on the Egyptian came as no surprise to our resident Reds.

Fortunately, though, the latest update on the matter from ESPN has provided the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern with a dose of confidence.

According to ESPN, the Liverpool brass will not sell Salah at any price this summer, with the club seemingly confident that the Egyptian will still be at Anfield next season.

It’s no real surprise that Liverpool are so keen to hang on to him, especially given that they’ve already lossed Philippe Coutinho this season. They’re clearly a team on the up, and so losing a player of Salah’s ilk could have far wider implications than just a bigger number in their bank account.

Significantly, it is also said that the Egyptian does not have a release clause in his contract – meaning that Liverpool won’t be forced to sell their star attacker. Given that Neymar left Barcelona through the triggering of a release clause, the Reds are clearly in a very strong position.

Landlord’s Verdict

This is huge for Liverpool. Though you could argue that it’s not a surprise that the Liverpool brass want to keep Salah, it wouldn’t be a huge shock for them to want to cash in given how much he could likely be sold for.

Far too often, Premier League sides have been powerless to resist interest from abroad. Indeed, the Reds suffered a similar fate earlier this year with Coutinho.

Now, however, they appear determined not to suffer a similar fate. That’s just what they need to get to the next level.

Salah is, at this point, the main player in this team, and so to lose him would take Jurgen Klopp back to square one. It’s going to be an interesting summer, that’s for sure.
