Liverpool BUOYED in race to land £32m Bundesliga superstar

Marco Reus There are some buoyant Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening after Metro’s latest rumour is revealed by our landlord.

The publication claims that the Reds are closing in on German international superstar Marco Reus.

The Borussia Dortmund forward has seen contract talks with the Signal Iduna Park-based side totally break down and the Reds are being linked with a £32 million swoop.

This, alongside Dortmund’s decline in form and questions over the future of Jurgen Klopp have all but made clear that Reus will be looking for pastures new at the start of the January transfer window.

For their part, Liverpool have made Reus their number one transfer target and are willing to offer him the £180,000-a-week that he is demanding in order to move to a new club.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to secure his signature and bring in a genuine marquee signing after some of his summer recruits – the likes of Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic and Rickie Lambert – failed to make an impression.

Reus, as our punters note, is one of the most coveted stars in world football at the minute and would certainly represent a massive coup for Liverpool if they were to land him.

Liverpool fans. Is Reus the man for you? £180,000-a-week is a hell of a lot of money but is the German international worth it? Let us know your thoughts below.
