Liverpool are playing some superb attacking football this season as they look to keep pace with the race for the top four in the Premier League, and manager Jurgen Klopp will be happy with what he is seeing.
The play of Mo Salah, Bobby Firmino, Sadio Mane, and the recently departed Philippe Coutinho has been nothing short of superb, but there is still a growing concern around the club that some of their defensive showings have left a lot to be desired.
Our landlord here in the Tavern agrees, and he thinks there are one or two players out there who can really make a big difference for the Reds in certain positions, especially at left-back, where the Anfield club have struggled all season.
However, our gaffer has been name dropping a few players, and one player who has caught his eye over in Italy is Roma youngster Luca Pellegrini.
The 18-year-old, who is represented by world renowned super-agent Mino Raiola, has yet to really make a big mark on the Rome club in terms of the first team, but there is little doubting his talent and what he can bring long term.
Pellegrini has already been capped by his country at youth levels, and looks to be yet another top Italian defender to emerge from what is seemingly a never ending conveyor belt of top talent.
Liverpool should definitely be looking to capture Pellegrini ASAP, and make what could be a shrewd move ahead of a host of Europe’s top clubs.
