As the Premier League season draws somewhat closer, all eyes are beginning to focus back on the English game following an exhilarating World Cup over in Russia this summer.

Plenty of players made a name for themselves in the tournament, and there will be a host of big clubs now scrapping it out for some of the top names to emerge from the tournament.

Indeed, two of the big spenders here in England are going to be Liverpool and Chelsea, and we here at the Transfer Tavern think there could well be a deal to be done between the two clubs.

Liverpool are already spending massive sums, but remain in a position where they only have Brazilian Roberto Firmino as their main number nine. With that in mind, we think that the Reds should launch a raid on rivals Chelsea to sign Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi.

The £36m-rated striker spent much of last term on loan with Dortmund, and showed enough over in Germany to represent a case for being one of the main men in the Premier League if given the chance.

The Belgian is a character to say the least, but his footballing talent shines through too. Quick, good in front of goal, and with the sort of athleticism which could see him dominate even the world's best defenders, Batshuayi would certainly be a superb addition for Liverpool if they could sign him.

With Mane and Salah out wide, and Firmino and Batshuayi as central options, Liverpool could very realistically win the Premier League title by making such an addition.

Reds and Blues fans, what do you think? Is this a good deal? Let us know in the comments!
