Liverpool will be looking to challenge Manchester City this season and got off to the perfect start last time out with a demolition job of West Ham.

Tomorrow's trip to Crystal Palace will represent a stern task though, after the Eagles themselves got off to a flyer on the opening weekend.

The Reds though did enjoy an excellent summer transfer window, and they will be everyone's favourites to challenge for the title along with Man City this term.

However, we here at the Tavern think that the Reds have missed a trick in not signing a quality central striker, and that in Roberto Firmino, they could well be asking just too much of the Brazilian all on his own this term.

That's why we believe they should have made a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

The Englishman has made a superb start to the season once again for the Cherries, and he is the sort of player who would have slotted in nicely for Liverpool, with his pace, finishing, and movement all fitting in with Jurgen Klopp's ethos.

Wilson has bags more potential in him too, and a move to one of the top clubs like Liverpool could be the making of the forward.

Liverpool do have talent going forward, but if Firmino is injured, it's difficult to see exactly where the goals are going to come from in terms of a central striker.

Reds fans, what do you think? Would Wilson have been a good signing? Let us know your thoughts!
