It’s been a bit of a quiet day in the Football Transfer Tavern.
However, talkSPORT save the day with some gossip as they suggest that Liverpool could lock horns with Inter Milan as they try to secure the signature of Argentine starlet Juan Manuel Iturbe.
Reports had recently emerged in the tavern suggesting that the 20-year-old was on Brendan Rodgers’ radar with the midfielder compared to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi by some overexcited Reds supporters.
Iturbe is currently starring for Hellas Verona in Serie A, on loan from FC Porto, and he has attracted attention after netting twice in seven appearances for the Italian side.
A group of Reds fans in the tavern have now seen the latest speculation that arrives from Italy and concerns have been raised about the possible strong competition from the San Siro outfit.
According to Italian reports, the terms of his loan deal at Verona allow a £11.5 million switch to be sealed at the end of the season but the Serie A club are unlikely to be able to afford that asking price.
Now Iturbe’s agent Claudio Pasqualin believes Verona may look to split his ownership rights with Inter Milan next summer.
He said: “Iturbe is a surprise and if he can sustain himself he will become a very important player, emulating the feats of Alexis Sanchez.
“It will not be a problem for Verona to find a partner for his signature. I think it might be Inter Milan, but he must first prove himself this season.”
Rodgers has already stuck to a policy of signing the finest young talent from across Europe and landing South American starlet Iturbe would be the next step for the Reds.
