The Liverpool fans were watching the Under-17 World Cup final on Saturday and celebrated England’s 5-2 triumph over Spain.
They were particularly excited that the star of the tournament, Rhian Brewster, is on their books.
The England under-17 striker netted a hat-trick in the quarter final and then again in the semi final before grabbing England’s first goal in the final, earning him the golden boot in the competition.
And recent reports suggest that Brewster could be paired by another starlet who shone at this tournament.
According to reports in Spain, Diego Lainez is on Liverpool’s radar.
Spanish media outlet ESPN Deportes are reporting that Mexico under-17 star Diego Lainez is wanted by Liverpool.
The talented teenager currently plies his trade for Club America, who play in the Liga MX – the top division in Mexico.
Since returning from the competition in India, he has already played in a cup match against Cruz Azul and he played for the team before the tournament too.
The 17-year-old was Mexico’s best player at the tournament despite their disappointing exit at the Round of 16 stage.
The young forward, who is small in height but very skillful, has been tracked by Liverpool throughout this tournament and they could make a move for him in January.
