Liverpool chasing World Cup HERO as ideal Reds replacement

Guillermo OchoaLiverpool fans are looking up with something that can only be described as excitement here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro claim Brendan Rodgers has a new number one in sight.

The Reds are reportedly willing to make a move for Malaga’s £5 million-rated goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa after Brendan Rodgers became increasingly unconvinced by Simon Mignolet.

Our resident Reds fanatics think that a move in January is looking increasingly likely.

Ochoa was one of the stars of the World Cup in the summer but since his move to La Liga side Malaga, he has not played a single league game, leading the Mexican international to question his future at La Rosaleda.

Now as our regulars note, this would cause considerable issues for Mignolet who will not be impressed at having such tough competition for a starting place and who may even ask to leave the club as a result of that.

Liverpool’s shaky defence has been a massive issue for them in recent games and while Mignolet has been criticised in some quarters, others believe Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel should be shouldering some of the blame too.

Liverpool fans. Simon Mignolet has been criticised so far this season so is a £5 million swoop for Ochoa something you’d like to see happen? Let us know your thoughts below.
