Liverpool’s exit from the Capital One Cup at the hands of Manchester United last night completed a rather miserable week for Reds supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The mood of the Reds supporters sat around the bar has been improved slightly by the latest transfer rumours that have arrived at the bar.
Ben Jefferson from The Express reports that Liverpool are monitoring former Barcelona youth product Keita Balde Diao with a view to a possible January transfer.
The 18-year-old centre forward of Senegalese origin currently stars for Lazio in Serie A after making the switch from the Camp Nou in the summer of 2011 despite having huge potential.
Italian reports indicate that Liverpool have had scouts watching Keita in recent weeks and were impressed in Lazio’s 1-0 victory over Legia Warsaw in the Europa League last week as the youngster laid on a assist for the only goal of the match.
Keita was allowed to leave Spain after a mistimed youth team prank but has impressed since arriving in Italy in a bargain £250,000 deal.
It is now thought that that the Rome-based club would not be looking for a massive fee despite the player’s contract running until June 2017 and that could see Brendan Rodgers increasing his interest in the powerful forward.
