Liverpool closing in on £4.7m signing for bargain Mignolet replacement

kloppppeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are starting to feel the nerves ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League final against Sevilla but they’re distracting their minds by discussing a transfer that could be imminent.

The Liverpool Echo says the Reds are closing in on a deal to bring Mainz goalkeeper Lorius Karius to the Premier League, by matching the release-clause of the former Manchester City trainee.

22-year-old Karius has established himself as one of the best young stoppers in Germany have already accumulated 91 appearances to date, although the club are unlikely to retain his services due to his low release clause.

Liverpool are likely to pay £4.7m to bring the goalkeeper to England and provide competition for Belgian international Simon Mignolet, who faces an uncertain future on Merseyside despite penning a five-year contract earlier this season.

Our landlord believes Karius is a quality option for Liverpool and has urged Klopp to push this deal through immediately.

Liverpool fans, does Karius have the capability to replace Mignolet as first-team stopper? Let us know in the comments below!
