Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are happy to get back to winning ways against Hull and the news from the Liverpool Echo has made things even better for them.
It seems that the club are closing in on the signing of Mohamed Salah, who is one of our favourite young players here in the tavern. Not only have we seen a fair bit of him this term in the Champions League – and been mightily impressed with his ability to be Chelsea’s personal nemesis – but we also remember his displays last term as well.
However, our landlord stops pouring a pint and issues a warning of caution. The club have not yet agreed a fee, as previously thought. We had been under the impression that an amount in the region of £7 million was about to be settled upon between Liverpool and Basel officials, but according to the Echo, that is not the case just yet.
One of our regular Reds fans notes that given the money paid for flops like Iago Aspas, to put in a £7 million bid for Salah is nothing, and certainly something the board should do before the value for the 22 year old increases even further – or worse, he is snapped up by another club.
Brendan Rodgers is also thought to be close to securing a loan deal for Cristian Tello, which would be a huge coup for highflying Reds.
Will Rodgers get his man? Let us know your thoughts below.
