Liverpool confident of major signing after tabling £31.5m offer

gotzeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have started to get excited about the possibility of bringing a World Cup winner to Anfield, with a bottle of bubbly ready to go should a deal go through.

Fichajes states Liverpool are confident of signing Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich this summer, stating that a £31.5m offer has been tabled to the Bavarian giants.

Gotze, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, has struggled to make a lasting impression on Bayern Munich’s first-team since leaving Borussia Dortmund, where he exploded onto the scene under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

Though Pep Guardiola’s departure, and Carlo Ancelotti’s subsequent arrival, in Bavaria this summer could change the situation, it currently seems Gotze will seek new opportunities this summer- and a reunion with Klopp is a huge possibility.

Liverpool could face problems luring the German international to Anfield though, as they’re set to miss out on Champions League football. The biggest issue though would be Gotze’s wages, as Liverpool would have to smash their wage structure to accommodate his current £180k-per-week deal.

Our landlord unfortunately believes the financial implications of the deal could mean Liverpool miss out, though he hopes that isn’t the case.

Liverpool fans, should you go all-out for Gotze? Let us know in the comments below!
