Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have their attention firmly set on this week’s Europa League final and their distracting themselves by discussing some news on the transfer front.
The Daily Mail states Liverpool are monitoring Mainz goalkeeper Lorius Karius and are considering activating his reported £8m release-clause to capture the German, bringing him to compete with Simon Mignolet.
Mignolet only signed a five-year contract extension at Merseyside earlier this season but has come under immense criticism for his performances, with many not considering him to be good enough to lead Liverpool to where they want to be.
Ahead of whats likely to be a busy summer at Anfield, Klopp is monitoring a number of goalkeeper targets and Karius is the latest man of his shortlist, with the 22-year-old appealing due to his minimal price-tag.
He had a spell at Manchester City as a youngster but has risen to fame with Mainz, who’s sixth-placed finish in the Bundesliga earned them Europa League football next season- and ensured they finished above big German sides like Wolfsburg, just five points off the top-four.
Does Mignolet need to be replaced this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
