Liverpool are off to an inconsistent start in the Premier League this season under Jurgen Klopp, with the Reds struggling to juggle Champions League and domestic football to the desired effect.
The Reds already look like they are out of the title race in the Premier League, and in Europe they look some distance off competing with the continent’s best, with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich still setting the bar.
Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern thinks Liverpool need to be looking at some new talent for their squad in January, and in particular in the midfield area, where they look light in central areas, with Jordan Henderson ofter flattering to deceive and Emre Can still inconsistent.
One player who’s been in superb form in the Premier League for a number of seasons now is current Bournemouth star Harry Arter, who has grown into one of the best central midfield players in the Premier League under Eddie Howe.
Arter might not be the most glamorous signing, but he does everything a good midfield player needs to do to a good level. His workrate is second to none, and his passing ability and lung bursting runs forward make him one of the Cherries’ key performers.
Liverpool could well do with someone like Arter in their ranks. While Bournemouth won’t want to lose him, a big bid could tempt the Irish midfielder to Anfield, and he would surely relish the chance of becoming one of the star midfield turns for a club the size of Liverpool.
Reds fans, what do you make of Arte? Good signing? Let us know!
